Can anyone explain how you can drink 5 pints of fosters, Carling etc and not feel pissed (4%) but 4 pints of 1664/Stella and you are half cut?
It’s the same amount of alcohol.

I'm sure its been mentioned but good old Watneys Red Barrel. What was the old saying? "Don't take the piss out of Watneys Red Barrel it ruins the flavour!" :-)

I loved caffreys
Ordered it in the temple bar in Dublin once and I thought the barman was going to lamp me. Whatever he gave me instead was amazing though (no, it wasn’t Guinness)

Back in the late 80's my then local, The Old Anchor, Kelvedon, started selling Newquay Steam Lager in flip top bottles
Remember that stuff well along with Newquay Steam Bitter... we got invited to play in a 6 a side testimonial for Allan lamb at St Austell Cricket Club in the late 80's... the Newquay Steam Bitter and Lager was sp[onsoring the occasion and anyone who was playing got freebies for the 2 days there... as you say... messy stuff...

MILD. I still occasionally have a pint of it, or did before the pandemic.
I've not had a SNAKEBITE since I was at university. Snakebite & Black used to be £1 on Wednesday nights in the uni bar/club. You could go out with a score in your pocket, get absolutely shitfaced and still have money left for a kebab at the end of the night.

I like Caffrey's - it's a fine pint
They still do it in Waxy's Little Sister and Waxy O'Connors on Wardour Street just by the Leicester Square end.

Missus used to drink Pernod and Black when I first met her... by the end of the night she looked like she had gone all Ozzy and torn a head off a bat... Barcardi and Coke used to be massive... all the XR3i boys were on that ...
The difference between tennents Extra and Super was incredible... one was a lovely strong great fighting and chucking up pint... and the other was undrinkable syrup.
